This
week is a collection of photos taken of a
Golden Silk Orb Weaver Spider. According
to Wanda Taylor, "It spins a
beautiful golden silk web and is very
strong. Strong enough to roll up like a
spool of thread." Mrs. Taylor
continues to say that, "This is the
first year since I have lived on the
Southeast coast of North Carolina, that I
have seen this type of spider. I myself
don't like spiders but I just had to take
pictures of this one." She adds,
"There are so many of them we have
been a little afraid to walk under the
trees in our back yard." Mrs. Taylor
says, "she just had to share this
beautiful creature with others back
home."

(Note
from the webmistress: If
you read the online version of the
Mountaineer each week, then you have seen
that I have been publishing more than one
photo at a time for Photo of the Week.
This is due to you, the reader, sending in
series of photos. I have not had the heart
to not publish such wonderful pictures. I
will continue to do so, however I will
start to combine the photos into one
image. You won't notice it, unless you
print them out, or try to enlarge them.
Thank you, Webmistress.)
