Johnny
T. Belcher, 62, of the Belcher's Fork section of Buchanan
County, died Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Wellmont Hospice
House, Bristol, TN, following an extended illness.
Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late
Bart and Dollie Owens Belcher. He was a life-long resident
of Buchanan County, a member of Harman Freewill Baptist
Church and a retired employee of Harman Mining Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by four brothers, Otto, Moscoe, Donnie and Michael Belcher.
He is survived by his wife, Linda G. Dales Belcher;
two daughters, Melanie and husband, Kevin Bennett and
Melinda Belcher, all of Bristol, TN; two sons, Johnny T. and
wife, Jodie Belcher and Jarrett Belcher, all of Grundy; six
sisters, Elsie OQuinn of Vansant, Patsy and husband, Ray
Shortridge, Velcie Elswick and Mickey Stiltner, all of
Abingdon, Sue and husband, John McKinney, of Johnson City
and Lois and husband, Ralph Strunk, of Akron, OH; one
brother, Rick, and wife, Ruby Belcher, of Grundy; two
grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, August 28 at Grundy
Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Ronnie Sliger, Eddie
Wilson, Danny Hess and Bobby Ratliff officiating. Burial
followed in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock.
Active pallbearers were Daniel Belcher, Steve
Belcher, Billy Belcher, Timmy Belcher, Bobby O'Quinn, Joey
O'Quinn, John W. McKinney, Dr. Bart McKinney, Butch Stiltner,
Grover Dales, Iven Dales, Eugene Whited, Randy Owens,
Richard Taylor, Terry Belcher and Scotty Owens.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. H. Patel, Dr. D. Patel,
Dr. Weinacker, Paul Elswick, Randy Looney, John Whited,
Kermit Clevinger, Jerry Matney, Patsy Horton, Tommy Horton,
Mike Horton, Evg. Mike Rife. Evg. Michael Trent, Gary Estep
and Healing Hands Health Care Nurses.

Nicey
Yates Coleman Rife, 85, of Maxie, died Tuesday, August 22,
2006 in Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy.
Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the
late Perry Yates and Catherine Deel Yates. She was a
homemaker and a member of Russell Prater Old Regular Baptist
Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death
by her first husband, Joe Willie Coleman; her second
husband, Frank Rife; one daughter, Imal Jean Nipper; one
step-daughter, Macey Looney; three sisters; three brothers;
and one grandson.
She is survived by seven daughters, Betty Geraline
Davis and husband, Roger, of Mavisdale, Gay Rife and
husband, Estel, of Maxie, Gelma Hall and husband, John, and Brenda Scarberry and
husband, Dennis, all of Big Rock,
Louisa West and husband, Rell, of Pikeville, KY,
Jackie Sykes and husband, Carl, of Bee and Julie Dotson and
husband, Buford, of Benton, KY; one son, Denny Joe Coleman
and wife, Juanita, of Haysi; one step-daughter, Jean Vandyke
and husband, Ray, of Jewell Ridge; three step-sons, Elmer
Rife and wife, Evelyn, Kermit Rife and wife, Violet, of
Whitewood and Estel Rife and wife, Gay, of Maxie; three
sisters, Oma Coleman and Dorothine Oquinn of Haysi and June
Mutter of Cedar Bluff; one brother, Clyde Boyd of Haysi; 22
grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-granddaughter.
Services were held Saturday, August 26 at Russell
Prater Old Regular Baptist Church on Greenbrier with Elders
Andy Deel, Lloyd (Popeye) Brown, Danny Oquinn, Earl Dean
Yates and Mark Justus officiating. Burial followed in the
Pariot Deel Cemetery on Greenbrier.
Active pallbearers were grandsons.

Timothy
Allen Stiltner, 48, of Maxie, died Saturday, August 12, 2006
in Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN following an
extended illness.
Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late
Grover Hassell and Barbara Ellen Lane Stiltner. He was a
life-long resident of Buchanan County and was of the Regular
Baptist faith. He was a disabled coal miner.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Hurley Stiltner;
one daughter, Tonya, and husband, Jason Blankenship, of
Mosheim, TN; one son, Christopher, and wife, Jamie Stiltner,
of Mosheim; three brothers, Brian Keith and wife, Kathy
Stiltner, of Maxie, Gary Scott and wife, Donna Stiltner, of
Salem and David Henry and wife, Becky Stiltner of Pounding
Mill; three grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, August 16 at Bethlehem
Old Regular Baptist Church #1 on Poplar Creek with Elders
Jim Blankenship, Billy Campbell and William McClanahan
officiating. Burial followed in the Frank Stiltner Cemetery
on Poplar Creek.
Graveside rites were held at the cemetery by Minister
Don Ashby.
Active pallbearers were Teddy Hensley, Bill Harrision,
Scottie Hurley, T.J. Hurley, Brandon Harrison, Landon
Hurley, David Hurley, Johnny Mullins and Teddy Hensley.
Honorary pallbearers were Keith Elswick, Leon Elswick,
Dr. J.G. Patel, Dr. J.P. Sutherland, Jr., Cindy Shortridge,
nursing staff of Buchanan General Hospiital and nursing
staff of Sutherland Clinic.

Truby Daugherty Baker,
77, of Rt.
2, Grundy, died Saturday, August 26, 2006, at Pikeville
Medical Center, Pikeville, KY, following an extended
illness.
Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the
late Burley and Edna Stiltner Daugherty. She was a resident
of Buchanan County most of her life, a member of Grace
Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death
by her husband, James Baker; one infant sister and one
infant brother.
She is survived by two sisters, Ruby Henson of
Phelps, KY and Lucy (Bonnie) Roberts
of Monticello, KY; one brother, Caral, and wife, Mary
Daugherty of Rt. 2, Grundy; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday, August 29 at Grace
Baptist Church with Pastor Dean Powers officiating. Burial
followed in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock.
Active pallbearers were family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers were employees of
Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

Donald
Lee Osborne, 48, of Raysal, WV, died Thursday, August 24,
2006 at his home in Paynesville, WV.
Born in Welch, WV, he was a son of Arminda Lester
Osborne, of Paynesville and the late Sherman Osborne. He was
a miner at Knox Creek Coal Company.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death
by his paternal grandparents, Artemus and Polly Osborne;
maternal grandparents, Elisha and Judy Lester; two brothers,
James and Mack Day; and one nephew.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Justice Osborne;
one daughter, Destiny Dawn Osborne of the home; one
step-daughter, Kimberly Dell, of Raysal, WV; three brothers,
Jimmy Day and Junior Osborne, both of Jewell Ridge and J.D.
Osborne of Paynesville; three sisters, June Osborne and
Alice Viars, both of Paynesville and Rittie Osborne of
Dobson, NC; one grandson, several nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Services were held Monday, August 28 at Flat Woods
Church of Christ on Keen Ridge near Paynesville with the
Rev. Herman Day and Ministers Charlie Cooper and Gilbert
Cooper officiating. Burial followed in the Osborne Family
Cemetery on Keen Ridge.
Pallbearers were nephews and cousins.

Vince White, 82, of Jewell Ridge, died Tuesday, August 22,
2006 at his home following an extended illness.
Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late
John D. and Sarah Lowe White. He was a retired coal miner
and member of Loggy Bottom Pentecostal Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by one son, Jennings White, Sr.; one daughter, Emma
Frances Lester; two sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his wife, Virgie Woosley White;
three sisters, Ida Sizemore and Eunice Cantrell, both of
Wabash, IN and Virginia Dudley of Canandaigua, NY; one
son-in-law, Elisha Lester, Jr. of Wilmington, NC; one
daughter-in-law, Alice Johnson, of Pippa Passes, KY; six
grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, August 26 at Loggy
Bottom Pentecostal Church at Pilgrim Knob with the Revs.
Lawrence Horn, Ancil Childress, Troy Lester and Jack Ward
officiating. Burial followed in the White Cemetery at
Jewell Valley.
Pallbearers were family and friends.

died Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Mouthcard.
Born in Pike County, she was a daughter of Homer
and Rhonda Sue Grizzle Good, of Mouthcard. She was a
homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her
husband, Riley Hensley; one son, Sladin Crew Hensley, of
Mouthcard; one daughter, Kylie La-Rae Hensley of Mouthcard;
and one brother, Jonathan Ray Good of Mouthcard.
Services were held Thursday, May 25 in Bailey

County, died Friday, August 18, 2006 in the Wardell
Nursing Home at Galax.
Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of
the late Paris and Laura Estep May. She was of the Baptist
and Church of Christ faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her first husband, John Albert Asbury; her second
husband, Lawrence Hurley; two sisters, Pearl Coleman of
Chasier, OH and Hazel Effler of Sumter, SC; one brother,
Tobias May of Draper.
She is survived by one son, Sherman Asbury of
Rosedale; two sisters, Ethel, and husband, Dee Hurley, of
Hurley and Shirley and husband, Mike Burridge of Vinton,
OH; six brothers, Henry May of Hurley, Leroy and wife,
Karen May, of Dugspur, Harless and wife, Grace May, of
Jacksonville, FL, Troy May and Jimmy May of Hillsville and
Alfred May of Flint, MI; and two grandsons.
Services were held Sunday, August 20 at
Independence Baptist Church in Hillsville with the Rev.
Timothy Hawks officiating. Burial followed in Mountain
Valley Memorial Park on Saturday, August 26 with Evg.
Michael Trent officiating.
