            Evans

                   (Grundy)


  Jeremy Andrew Evans 17 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Monday, July 31, 2006 at the Buchanan General Hospital. Born in Tazewell County, June 1, 1989 he was the son of Clinton Lewis Evans and Debra Duty Evans of Grundy, VA. He was a member of the Poplar Creek Church of Christ and was baptized, June 17, 2004.
  He was a rising senior of Grundy Senior High School Class of 2007. Was a member of the Grundy Robotics Team, Oral Communications, prom committee and FBLA club. Former player of the Grundy Golden Wave Football team, eligible candidate Virginia Governors Seal and Who’s Who Among America High School Seniors students. Enjoyed sport cars and was a avid muscle car enthusiast, had placed many times and won car show awards.
  Jeremy was a young man that endured and achieved numerous accomplishments in his life. He enjoyed life to the fullest, kept his faith in Christ. Loving son, brother, grandson and friend to all who new him with a unique heart of gold..
  He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Eugene and Nora Evans.
  Jeremy is survived by his Dad and Mom, Clinton Lewis Evans and Debbie Duty Evans of Grundy, VA, his brother, Brandon Matthew (Bro) Evans of Grundy, VA. Maternal Papaw and Nanny, James R. Duty and Fern E. Duty of Grundy, VA. He was also survived by his special canine friend, Oreo and a host of Friends.
   Funeral services for Jeremy Andrew Evans will be conducted Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Poplar Creek Church of Christ with Ministers: J.C. Anderson, Mike Rife, Michael Trent and Mark Gaminde officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.
  Active pallbearers will be: Kevin Vandyke, Matt Baldwin, Brandon Woods, Ryan Stiltner, Billy Joe Yates, Kyler Yates, Donald Evans, Josh Owens and Charlie Osborne.
   Honorary pallbearers will be: Wayne McClanahan, Jimmy Ashby Evan Lawson, Bucky Blankenship, Greg Clevinger, Preston Hibbitts, Justin Hipps, Chad Gibson, Men of the Poplar Creek Church of Christ and Grundy Senior High School Class of 2007.
   Friends may call at the Poplar Creek Church of Christ after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday. Evening services will be held Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30 p.m..
   In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Church of Christ Youth Camp, Box 493, Grundy, VA and Buchanan County American Cancer Society Relay for Life, P.O. Box 492, Grundy, VA.

Helen Arwood Martin
(Drill, VA)

  Helen Arwood Martin, 71, of the Martin Mountain section of Drill, died Thursday, July 27, 2006 in a Lebanon hospital.
  Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late Tim and Rose Shortt Arwood. She had spent her early life in the area prior to moving to Cleveland, OH and then back to Martin Mountain in 1991. She was a member of Outreach Temple Church in Wysor Valley.
  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Martin, June 29, 2006; one brother, Carl Arwood; and four sisters, Hazel Street, Bea Miller, Lois Cook and Edgar Patton.
  She is survived by two daughters, Patty Price of Rowe and Judy Deskins of Lebanon; three sons, Joe Martin of Honaker and Billy Martin and Teddy Martin, both of Rowe; three brothers, Lawrence Arwood of Honaker and the Rev. Arvil Arwood and Roy Arwood, both of Rowe; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
  Services were held Sunday in Honaker with the Revs. Ancil Childress and Arvil Arwood officiating. Burial followed in the Martin Cemetery on Stinson's Ridge.
  Pallbearers were David Deskins, Patrick Martin, Sam Hess, Ricky Brown, Pastor Jimmy Helton and Johnny Brown.
  Honorary pallbearers were nephews.


Ollie Owens Breeding
(Abingdon)

   Ollie Owens Breeding, 74, of Abingdon, formerly of Grundy, died Monday, July 24, 2006 at Maple Grove Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Lebanon following a brief illness.
    Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late Kilby and Lilly Owens Owens. She had been a life-long resident of Buchanan County prior to moving to Abingdon and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for 48 years.
   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Deel; two brothers, Clovis and Virland Owens, and three infant brothers.
   She is survived by her husband, Edgar Breeding; one daughter, Sheilah J. O'Quinn of Abingdon; three sons, Johnny Mack and wife, Katie Deel of Lebanon, Allen and wife, Ann Dotson Breeding of Oakville Ontario, Canada and Aaron Lee Breeding of Abingdon; one sister, Arbutus and husband, Elmer Lockhart of Prater; one brother, Vernon and wife, Lois Owens of Prater; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
   Services were held Friday, July 28 at Grundy Funeral Home Chapel in Grundy with Elders Jeffery Arnold and Aaron Williams officiating. Burial followed in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock.
   Active pallbearers were Christopher Tyler Breeding, William Alexander Breeding, Stephen Scott Jackson, Russell Wiley Lockhart, Teddy Edward Yates, Phillip Ferguson and Jeffery Yates.
   Grundy Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
