Cochran Appointed to Grundy IDA Board

by JoBeth Wampler
Staff Reporter

Zachary Cochran, a native of Buchanan County and owner of Cochran Industries at Keen Mountain, was introduced as the new Grundy Industrial Development Authority board member during Tuesday's meeting last week.
"I hope I can be an asset to them," Cochran said. "I hope the public will benefit. That's the most you can hope is to give back."
Cochran grew up in the Tookland area and graduated Grundy High School in 1979.
After spending four years away from home at the University of Virginia's College at Wise (formerly known as Clinch Valley College), where he graduated in 1983, Cochran came back to Buchanan County a year later to work at the family business.
Cochran's grandfather George E. Cochran started the family-owned and operated concrete corporate block supply manufacturing business in 1948. It was later passed down to his father William Clifford Cochran, before he took ownership of the business in 1994.
Cochran and his wife Charlotte have been married 25 years and currently reside at Russell Hill.
They have two children, Sharayah, 21, and Nathanael, 20.
