Father-Son Duo Claims 38th Annual Ron King Memorial Member-Guest Golf Tourney at WCC
Mike and Jordan Mullins Capture Title by Two Strokes

The father-son duo of Mike and Jordan Mullins came to play golf during the opening round and held off the challenges over the final 18 holes to capture the men’s championship flight title in the 38th annual Ron King Memorial Member-Guest golf tournament Saturday and Sunday at Willowbrook Country Club.
Mike and his son, Jordan, blistered the course over the first nine holes—posting a round of 28—good enough to earn the twosome medallist honors for the lowest round as well as the championship trophy at the end of Sunday’s play.
The annual two-day tournament saw some 52 golfers take to the course for two days of golf competition and other social events.
As in recent years, this year’s event saw three different formats played over the 27 holes.
The event is scheduled for 36 holes — 18 holes each day — but was trimmed to just nine holes during Saturday’s opening round due to heavy lightening and rain in the area.
Saturday’s opening nine holes featured a captain’s choice format for the 26 two-person teams. On Sunday, the first nine holes were played on an alternate shot format (modified) and the back nine holes played on a best ball (among the twosome) format.
Mike and Jordan opened Saturday’s round with a score of 28, just one stroke ahead of Donnie Phipps and B.J. Elswick, and just two and three strokes ahead of the remaining eight teams in the championship flight.
On Sunday, the Mullins twosome posted a round of four-under-par, 66, and picked up one stroke over their nearest twosome to capture first place honors in the championship flight with a two-day, 27-hole score of 94.
The twosome of Phipps and Elswick finished tied with the twosome of WCC Club Pro Glen Turner and his partner Buckey Blankenship, for runner-up honors in the flight. Both teams finished play with a two-day total 96.
Turner and Blankenship won runner-up honors in the championship flight after a playoff on hole #7.
In the ladies’ division, Ginger Robertson and Ina Turner  posted a round of 31 during Saturday’s nine holes and backed that up with an 18-hole score of 81 on Sunday to claim the women’s title with a two-day
total score of 118.
