Taken
while on a trip to China, Yhouzhuang (the
town's proper name), located in the
Jiangsu Province. Yhouzhuang is one city
that has never been invaded and ravaged by
other countries in the entire history of
China. It is surrounded by water and
access to the village is only possible by
boat. It has only been a few years since,
that a bridge has been built and road
access made available. Small boats are the
only transportation in the town, the
streets are very narrow, walking only.
Many small shops to buy food, cloths and
crafts, as well as, unique items (things
you will never see in U.S. stores) are
available in this town. The town dates
before the Ming dynasty and has a lot of
history. Mr. Taylor, who took the photos,
said he was working in Shanghai and
traveled to this small Water Town one
weekend. He said he enjoyed his visit more
than most he had visited in other
countries and he wanted to share his
experience with his old friends back home.

(Note
from the webmistress: If
you read the online version of the
Mountaineer each week, then you have seen
that I have been publishing more than one
photo at a time for Photo of the Week.
This is due to you, the reader, sending in
series of photos. I have not had the heart
to not publish such wonderful pictures. I
will continue to do so, however I will
start to combine the photos into one
image. You won't notice it, unless you
print them out, or try to enlarge them.
Thank you, Webmistress.) |
