Cobras
Drop
Three
Non-District
Battles
|
|
Council’s
losing
streak
reached
six
games
when
the
Cobras
dropped
three
non-district
road
games
over
the
past
week.
The
Cobras
were
swept
at
Ervinton,
10-0
and
3-2,
in a
baseball
doubleheader
Monday,
and
fell
at
Twin
Springs,
12-2,
last
Tuesday
(April
3).
Ervinton’s
Logan
McCowan
stole
home
and
brought
the
game-winning
run
with
him
in
the
bottom
of
the
fifth
inning
on a
controversial,
game-ending
play
in
the
nightcap
of
Monday’s
twin
bill
at
Nora.
The
Rebels
had
the
bases
loaded
and
one
out
when
McCowan
raced
home.
The
batter,
on
what
was
supposed
to
be a
suicide
squeeze
play,
took
a
swing
at
the
pitch
and
missed,
stepping
out
of
the
batter’s
box
and
into
the
third
base
line
in
the
process,
impeding
Council
catcher
Matt
Boyd’s
ability
to
see
the
runner
and
make
a
play.
McCowan
was
ruled
safe,
ending
the
game.
Justin
Boyd
took
the
tough-luck
loss
for
the
Cobras,
despite
allowing
just
three
hits.
Boyd
had
three
hits
in
the
doubleheader,
including
a
single
and a
game-tying
two-run
homer
in
the
fifth
inning
of
game
two.
Adam
Rose
doubled
and
homered
in
the
opening
game
for
Ervinton.
Adam
Kiser
