A
team that travels and competes together becomes like
a
family, and the Grundy wrestling squad rallied
around
the Tresea Lee family.
Grundy
notched a pair of dual meet wins Saturday,
defeating
Hidden Valley, 59-9, and Brookville, 56-9,
in
a four-team match that pitted two Southwest
District
teams, including Abingdon, against the other
two
clubs. The Falcons lost to Brookville, 37-28, and
suffered
a 41-24 setback at the hands of Hidden
Valley.
The
Golden Wave also picked up two SWD wins last week
and
remain unbeaten in dual meets. Grundy crushed
Carroll
County, 65-12, and whipped Richlands, 62-15,
in
action Wednesday at Tazewell.
Kaleb
Smith spoke for his teammates after avenging a
Jan.
26 loss to Nathan Shuler with a 10-0, major
decision
over Brookville’s 145-pounder. Smith took
command
quickly, getting a 5-0 lead, battled a bloody
nose
through the entire second period, and moved
quickly
again to put Shuler on his back, and the match
out
of Shuler’s reach, early in the third and final
period.
