by Lloyd Combs
Sports Reporter

Twin Valley took two games out of three at Midland Trail High School in Hico, West Virginia last week.
The Panthers held off Meadow Bridge, 64-51, on Thursday.
In the Midland Trail Blizzard Tournament over the weekend, Twin Valley lost to Gilmer County, 48-40, on Friday and took third place in the event with a 74-25 rout of Montcalm on Saturday.
Three Panthers posted double-doubles in Thursday’s win. Freshman Josh Smith scored 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, including 11 on the offensive glass, while Matthew Baldwin and Hunter Simpson each  added 16 points and 10 boards for Twin Valley (4-2).
Twin Valley led from start to finish. The Panthers extended a 32-25 lead to 51-36 and led by as much as 20 points in the third quarter.
Chris Rowe (17) and Billy Trump (15) combined for 32 points for Meadow Bridge.
The Panthers led most of the way Friday before Gilmer County rallied to take the lead late in the contest.
Gilmer County took the lead, 42-39, on a three-pointer with 3:28 remaining and held Twin Valley to one point the rest of the way.
"We pretty much led the whole ballgame,” Twin Valley coach Brian Moore said. “When Matthew (Baldwin) got in a little bit of foul trouble they made a little run.
“Their zone hurt us and we went cold at the end. They’re well-coached. They’re a pretty decent team for the most part.”
