Beverly
Tiller
was
sworn
in
last
week
as
Buchanan
Circuit
Court
Clerk
effective
January
1.
Tiller
will
replace
Jim
Bevins,
who
formally
announced
last
week
he
would
step
down
as
clerk
due
to
health
reasons.
Tiller's
appointment,
made
by
Circuit
Judge
Bob
Williams,
will
remain
in
effect
until
the
general
county
election
in
November
2007,
allowing
Tiller
to
fill
Bevins'
unexpired
term
of
office.
Tiller,
who
has
been
a
deputy
clerk
and

in
the

years,
has
previously
announced
she
will
seek
the
Democrat
nomination
for
clerk.
Bevins,
in
announcing
his
retirement
last
Thursday,
also
said
he
thought
the
court
had
made
the
right
decision
in
naming
Tiller
as
his
replacement.
"Bev
is
definitely
the
best
individual
for
the
office
due
to
her
work
experience
of
21
years
in
the
office,
her
ability
and
her
work
ethic,"
Bevins
said.
"She
has
been
a
valuable
employee
in
my
15
years
as
clerk."
He
continued,
"Her
dedication
to
the
county
is
evident
and
she
always
keeps
the
needs
of
the
citizens
at
heart."
Tiller
said
she
was
pleased
to
have
been
appointed
to
the
post.
"I
really
hate
to
see
Jim
retire,
but
I
feel
blessed
to
have
had
so
many
years
working
with
both
Jim
and
before
him,
Russell
Presley,"
Tiller
said.
"I've
learned
so
much
from
both
of
them."
Tiller
said
she
looks
forward
to
continuing
to
serve
the
people
of
Buchanan
County.
"I
will
try
to
continue
to
provide
the
same
quality
service
both
Jim
and
Russell
Presley
provided,"
Tiller
said.
"I've
been
here
for
21
years
and
have
been
a
deputy
clerk
for
17
of
those
years
and
having
been
here
for
that
length
of
time,
I
have
personally
been
involved
in
every
aspect
of
the
operation
of
the
clerk's
office."
Tiller
is
a
graduate
of
